Questions answered correctly, but marked as incorrect

Feb 09, 2015

Hi, using Articulate Storyline update 8 with HTML5 output viewed in Safari on the iPad. I have had a few complaints from some users reporting they answered a question correctly in the quiz, but it was marked incorrect. I have 1 or 2 screenshots to show this.

Has anyone come across this before?

Most of the reports have been on one particular 'freeform drag and drop' question, but I've also had complaints about a 'fill in the blank' and 'multiple choice'.

The question bank is set up with next/prev buttons, with the final question having the submit button.

I've tested the course content myself a few times and never had a problem, and it's a minority who have reported this, but the users have sent screenshots to show the problem.

Thanks!

It would be under jenn.johnston. I used the form and did not e-mail directly. Does the form option not work?

Thank you for the link, it confirms the same information I see in the report. The values themselves are not explained though, as I put in my example above. Where an answer of "s,s" is marked incorrect even though it matches the "s,s" correct response value. When I check the question though, there might be 4 options in the multiple-choice question which start with "s." So there has to be something else which is actually checking for the correct multiple choice response.

Hi Jennifer,

It does work - but it seems to not be working for you if you're not receiving the email response that the case was submitted so using the email is a good back up option. I found your email address in our system but no case associated with it so I'm going to go ahead and submit one on your behalf so that I can confirm the form is working correctly and you should see the automated response go directly to that email address. I'll let you know the case number once created.

Hi Jennifer,

I just submitted it and escalated it to get you a bit faster response. Your case is # 00727326 and you should receive the email confirmation that it went through from Support@articulate.com - if you don't see that email please double check your junk/spam folder and ensure it's not there and/or check with your IT team if it's been blocked for some reason.

Hi there, Deniz! Really sorry you're running into the same issue.

It looks like Daniel noted he was looking into changing his questions to use Submit rather than Next/Prev, but I don't see an update after that. Not to worry, as I'd be happy to lend a hand with your project! To start:

  • What version of Storyline are you using?
  • Have you had a chance to test your course in SCORM Cloud? It's an excellent, industry standard for LMS testing to see how courses behave in another environment.
  • Of course we're happy to help with testing! If you're able to, you can add your .story file here as a comment by clicking on Add Attachment below, or you can share it privately here.

I'll be standing by!

Hi Ashley, thanks for the answer. I have already tried your solution but it didn't work. Can you recommend any other solution?

Hello Katie. For this course, I use Articulate Storyline 2. I tested the course on the LMS that my company uses.

Because of various reasons I have to use "Previous/Next" buttons in my course. I tried another solution: I created a trigger and added submit interaction to Next button, but it also didn't work.

I see this problem only on the mobile devices (iOS and Android). When I test my course on IE, it works really well.

Hello Alyssa. I send my project at the attachment. As I aforementioned, I used Articulate Storyline-2 for this project. Because of some reasons, I can't send my original file, so I simplify it. My "Example" project consisting of 5 basic math questions. I also tried this one on my LMS, but I saw same mistake. I will be very happy, if you recommend a solution for my problem. Thanks a lot!

Hi Deniz

unfortunately you can't turn off the banners at the bottom but you can create a custom review layer...see attached.  I only worked on the first question slide.  I created a layer called Review and took a snap of the bottom portion of your slide (you'll need to format correctly) then added this picture to the Review layer.

When the user reviews the question, the review layer shows, the tick shows against the correct response but the banner is overlaid with the picture

This layer can be copied and pasted to all question slides.
