Quiz answers overlapping each other
Jul 28, 2017
I'm having an odd issue with quiz answers overlapping in HTML5. I did not have this issue while testing the Flash version
The image above is from the Quiz Review, however, I encountered this same issue as I was going through the quiz. All would look fine on the screen, I'd intentionally answer the question wrong so I could test the "Review Material" link. Then when I returned to the quiz question, as I moved my mouse over the options, all the answers/lines of text jumped around, overlapping each other. Similar to what's shown above.
If I moved my mouse over all the answers, eventually they found their "proper" places, but yikes, that's a terrible user experience!
Any ideas/solutions??

Could this be a browser issue? A user reported something similar to me but I couldn't repeat it. I tested in chrome with no problems and we have the latest IE - no problems. The user was on a slightly older IE version.
Just an idea to check.
Hi Cheryl
Thanks for that thought.
Even if it is a browser issue, I can't rely on all users having the very most up-to-date versions on their computers. Flat out, the project needs to work properly.
After I turned off the "shuffle answers" option, testing is NOT showing the garbled text anymore, so I'll have to surmise that's the real issue, unfortunately.
Hopefully Articulate will address it soon.
Thanks for the feedback Karen. I'll also look at the "shuffle answers" I have set.
Hi there Karen! Thanks for all of that helpful information. I'd like to test this further to confirm whether it's a software bug. Could you tell me what version of Storyline you're using? Also, did you notice this happening in a particular browser?
I'm using SL2 (update 12)
Just did another quick test and these browsers show the bug:
IE 11.1007
FireFox 54.0.1
I could swear that it was also happening in Chrome yesterday. However, it's not happening at this moment when I'm testing it in Chrome.
Thanks, Karen! That's really helpful.
The only supported browsers for Storyline 2 HTML5 content are the latest version of Google Chrome and Safari 7. That would explain why you're seeing wonky behavior in IE and Firefox.
If you want to use IE and Firefox, be sure that Flash is enabled and up to date. As long as you're using a Flash-enabled browser, the content will default to the Flash output.
Here's a sample file for you to test. You can double check that you're viewing the Flash output if the end of the URL has story.html.
