Quiz functionality - limiting re-takes on a question by question basis

I'll be creating my first storyline quiz and I'd like to verify that the client's request is possible (I think it is) and also confirm my thought process to handle it.

The request:

1. Participant should answer each question and be given immediate feedback as to whether response is CORRECT or INCORRECT

2. For initial INCORRECT responses, participant should be provided an opportunity to re-review information in the module specific to content area being assessed (we provided direct link to content slides in attached). The participant can also have another opportunity to re-answer the same question.

3. If answered correctly the 2nd time around, the participant can move on to the next question (credit will be given if question is answered correctly the 2nd time around).

4. If answered incorrectly the 2nd time around, the correct response is provided along with an explanation/feedback for correct response. Participant can then, move on to the next question. (No credit is give if question is answered incorrectly the 2nd time; however, correct response and explanation/feedback will be provided)

I know #1 is possible.

I know #2 is possible.

Regarding # 3 and #4:
And I know it's possible to limit the overall amount of times a user can re-take a quiz buy putting a variable change/trigger on the results slide. However, in order to accomplish this behavior on a question by question basis, I'm going to have to set a variable count/trigger on each question's result slide, I presume. Am I approaching this correctly?

And how do you typically guide the user back to the quiz question they left off on after they jump backwards into the content to review info they got wrong? Are there standard practices?
