Quiz Multiple Choice causes incorrect positioning in HTML5 output

Jul 08, 2013

Hi,

I created MC questions where with options that needs more than two lines. Since the last update, this causes a incorrect positioning within the scroll area in HTML5 output (see screenshot). Has anyone a idea?

Thanks + greets

Hi there Ronny. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

Can you tell me how you're viewing the course when this happens, please? Are you viewing the published output locally, or after it's been uploaded to a web server or LMS? Which web browser are you using to view the project and have you tried using another browser?

If you could share the .STORY fie, I'd be happy to take a look and see if I experience the same problem on my end.

Thanks and welcome again!

Hi Christine,

I view the published course locally by starting the story_html5.html directly. You can see it in every browser. I checked in IE9, Firefox 22, Chrome 27.

I checked the CSS settings in the HTML. Think that the output set a wrong Y-Position when there are options with more than one line. So it should be no browser problem. When you reduce text to one line, then it runs perfectly.

Attached a example .story file with just one quiz which is made out of the standard quiz MC-Template an layout customized.

Thanks for helping + greets

Ronny

Hi Ronny,

I've tested the project on my end and I experienced the same thing after uploading to a web server for testing. I did a little research and I noticed there was a different, but slightly similar bug report for HTML5 content.

It looks like the shuffle option for Multiple Choice answers causes a few issues with HTML5 content. I tried disabling this option in the file that you shared and poof, looks like the problem is gone. If you don't absolutely need to use the shuffle options for the answers in your quiz, it might be best to disable that option.

If, however, you need to shuffle the answers, it might be best to try using a different question type.

I certainly hope this helps! Thanks for bringing this to my attention and sharing the file :)

Have a great day Ronny,

Christine
