I am baffled. We have custom navigation for our course and everything works great until you "review" the quiz or hit the "back" button. Once that happens, the Storyline navigation pops up out of no where! Please see the images below. I have checked the master slide, each individual slide and none of the Storyline navigation buttons are selected. Any thoughts on what is happening?
When learners review a quiz (or revisit question slides they've already submitted), they'll see Articulate Storyline's built-in Prev and Next buttons in the lower right corner of the player—even if you've disabled them throughout your course. These navigation buttons are necessary for learners to review quiz slides.
If you'd like to have an option to disable the Prev and Next buttons during quiz review so you can use your own custom navigation buttons, please let us know. Our team is definitely interested in your feedback and what would help make your courses better!
Thanks for your responds. We actually do have custom navigation on the course, you can see the blue button on the lower right hand side of the screen. So basically we have 2 forms of navigation, our custom buttons, and the Storyline buttons that just appeared.
Any other thoughts on what could be causing this issue?
Unfortunately this is by design right now, even if you have custom navigation, as Storyline doesn't have a way to know on a review that this is how you set it up. You may be able to have them not display if you remove all other elements of the player and create a more chromeless player look.
Not sure if you tried the transparent player or not but it does work for hiding the buttons during quiz review. You may also want to hide the Submit button during quiz review as well. All you need to do is add a layer to your questions with something covering the Submit button. Then create a variable (I called mine ReviewMode) and add it to each question slide saying show layer XXXX when the timeline starts if ReviewMode equals TRUE. Then on your results slide add a trigger to the Review Quiz button to change the ReviewMode variable from FALSE to TRUE when clicked.
This sounds like a great idea. I wanted to hide my "Next Question" buttons during quiz review. I followed the four steps above but it's not working. To double check:
1. Add a layer with a shape to cover the button
2. Create a variable ReviewMode = False
3. Add a trigger to each question slide, Show layer X when the timeline starts if ReviewMode = True.
4. On Results slide, add a trigger to the Review Quiz button to change ReviewMode to True when the button is clicked.
Does the trigger to change the value of your variable come before your jump to slide trigger? That's my only guess that it doesn't have time to see the variable value change before you advance. Trigger order is an important element as detailed here.
Hello Libby - The default Prev/Next should still be present during Quiz Review. Do you still have a sample .story to demonstrate the problematic behavior that we could take a look at?
Thanks so much for sharing your file with us. I can see why you may not need your learners to review the quiz questions since each question has an unlimited number of attempts. In any case, there is an issue with Storyline 2 where the Prev/Next buttons will not appear during quiz review in the following conditions:
You've created a custom Submit button on quiz slides
You've removed the Prev/Next buttons on all slides
You've removed all other elements from the bottom of the player such as the volume button and the seekbar
Just to test, I added the volume button and seekbar back into the Player, and the Prev/Next buttons appeared during quiz review.
Our QA team is looking into this issue and determining how a change here might fit in with other priorities - I'll include your experience in the report and update this thread once we receive updates from QA.
Hi Dionna, thanks for chiming in! Are you using Storyline 2?
We're still keeping an eye on this bug to evaluate how many customers are impacted by it. The number of customers and depth of impact are two of the elements that help us prioritize bugs and fixes. You're in the right place to stay updated on this bug's progress!
Thanks for getting back to me. I'm in SL360 actually, and my coworker showed me a super easy workaround using the Review Quiz layer, so we're good. I actually like the fact that the nav buttons don't automatically appear, but it would be super cool if you had the option of turning them on or off.
Cool, I'm glad you are able to use the Review Quiz layer. And great idea on the option to run navigation buttons on or off during quiz review--I can pass that along to my team for you!

Nice - thanks for sharing that idea here Blair! Glad to hear it's working for you.

It works! Thanks, Ashley. That did the trick. Now if I can match the color I'll be all set! : ) Thanks so very much.
Have you looked at using the eyedropper to help match colors? It's described a bit here.
Right. I was just kidding. Truly, thanks so much for sending me in the right direction! You all are awesome!
Ha! My bad Cheryl - always looking for solutions to questions here and at the end of the day just trying to make sure folks are taken care of. :-)

Hi Alyssa,
Wondering if there's an update on this.
Thanks!
