quiz: retry only the incorrectly answered questions

Mar 31, 2013

Hello,

I'm developping a module that contains videos and between the different parts of the videos some quiz questions to check the understanding of the part that was just showed. At the end of the module I would like to offer the student a second chance to find the right answer if he answered incorrectly during the course. Is there a way to tell storyline to show again only the question that were incorrectly answered?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Marielle!

You won't be able to do this, unfortunately. Storyline won't be able to "single out" the incorrect answers for the user to retry. What you could do instead, is create smaller quizzes and break them up. This way if the learner wants to try the quiz again, they'll only have to worry about a smaller amount of questions.

Another alternative is to allow the learner unlimited, or more attempts. If you do this, they'll be able to skip that process all together. If you provide unlimited attempts, the leaner will have as many tries as they need to get the answer correct. If your questions aren't that difficult, you could simply raise the amount of attempts to a specific amount. Doing so may improve their chances of answering the questions correctly.

If you'd like to see a feature like this in a future release, I'd suggest sending over a feature request to our development team:

Apologies - I'm in Storyline 1. I have a quiz with 10 questions, and I'd like learners to have to repeat the quiz if they get any questions wrong, but only retake the wrongly answered questions. I'd like them to be able to retake the quiz as many times as they like.
I've watched the excellent video several times, but I'm struggling to understand the logic behind the various triggers used. As a result, I can't replicate it or work out the change needed for users to be able to take the quiz unlimited times (as opposed to three in the video).

Is this something anyone can help with?

Hi Mike,

Great question! It's not yet a feature in Articulate 360 - but one I'd love to have you share how that would make life easier.  If you haven't already, you can tell our product team about it here!

Our team evaluates features on a number of factors, including the viability of other workarounds, so that may be why this one hasn't hit the top yet!  If you’re wondering what happens when you submit a feature request, here’s our process.

Hi Ashley

Thanks for the response. I'll submit the request. I've have another question about quiz results. I want the learner to see what questions they missed and be able to jump to that specific section in the course. Is this possible. I've tried to search for it but not sure how to describe the scenario in Google.
