Quiz review not displaying correctly

Jan 05, 2017

In preview mode when building my courses, the quiz review works perfectly. Once it is published as SCORM and uploaded to the LMS it doesn't though. the questions are mainly multiple choice and multiple selection and in the quiz review they all overlap so you can't read the writing. They don't in the quiz, or in the review. Am I missing something?

I am having the same trouble. I've attached an extract of my module (quiz only) - when you review the quiz and have incorrect answers, the answers in the multi choice overlap.

I'm using SL2 and publishing to HTML5.

Wendy, is there a big difference when publishing to HTML and HTML5? I just use the default assuming it will suit more students and their various devices?

Hi there Sarah,

Thanks so much for sharing your published file here. I tested the link in Chrome v55, Internet Explorer 11, and Edge 38, and I noticed the overlapping answers in both IE and Edge for correct and incorrect answers.

This is a known issue with Storyline 2 when content is viewed with HTML5, and I'll be sure to add your experience to the report. I'll post any updates here in this discussion, and you’ll receive an email notification because you are now subscribed to this post.

In the meantime, you'll want to view the published content in Chrome or to use Flash, since Internet Explorer and Edge are not supported browsers for HTML5 content in Storyline 2.

Thanks for the quick response Alyssa.

Leaving this issue in isn't an option as I always like to reduce the possibility of student enquiries for the client. Students all use different browsers and I've found recommending one doesn't mean they will (or even read the recommendations!)

I've used a work around - when they click Submit, students who have the incorrect answer are shown the correct response. I've then deleted the Review button on the results slide and they now instead just have the option of Retrying.

This doesn't work so well for the matching questions, as I have had to include a screen shot of the correct matches and they can't compare it with their own.

Not ideal, but given in this case it's a self test quiz and not formal assessment, it will do. I look forward to hearing of any updates!

(Out of interest, is this issue still in Storyline 360? I'm not in a position to move to it as I only just purchased Storyline 2 in July last year, but just so I know).

Thanks
Sarah

Thanks for sharing that workaround, Sarah! This will definitely be helpful for folks who encounter a similar issue in the future.

The supported browsers for Storyline 360 to view content with HTML5 does include Internet Explorer 10 and later and Microsoft Edge, so you shouldn't see this issue if the project is published with Storyline 360.

Hello Alyssa

You said said previously that this issue should not happen using Storyline 360, but unfortunately I am having this issue now.  The Review Quiz button operates correctly during preview on my computer, however, once the course is published the Review Quiz button does not function.  I am now inundated with queries from learners and I have no answers.

The trigger attached to the Review Quz button is attached.
