Quiz timer in Storyline

I need some help on a Storyline question.

I had created a quiz in Quizmaker 09. That quiz has a time limit of 45 mins. I then imported that quiz to Storyline (which worked beautifully!)

My issue now is that when I published the storyline, I see the pie chart icon that looks like it is counting down, but I cannot figure out how to get the actual time counting down to display.

I need to be able to show the student how much time is remaining (via the actual time that is counting down).

So, I guess the basic questions is...can I create a time limited quiz in Storyline AND have that time count down displayed as the user is going through the material.

Hi Maxwell! Yep, you should be able to do this. Here's how:

Go to the result slide in your Storyline project.
Click "Edit Result Slide" (it's a button that appears just above the Triggers panel on the right-hand side of your screen).
When the Result Slide Properties window pops up, make sure you're on the "Results" tab on the window and find the "Timer format" dropdown at the bottom.
Use the dropdown to select "Do not show time" and then use it again to choose whichever format you prefer. I'm not sure why it requires the extra step to select your preference (I'll report that to our dev team) but I think this will give you the outcome you're looking for.

I only have Storyline. If I make a quiz, how can i get the timer to display on the player or on the slide somewhere? Is there a reference i can insert somewhere?

Hi Jay,

You can enable the timer on your results slide, and you should see these options:

For how you'd like to show the quiz time. The only built in option for it to display is within the Player border as shown here in this blog post by Mike Taylor.

Is there a way to customize (color, position, look) of the timer, aside from the options in the "Timer Format"?

Hi Steve,

It'll always appear in the top right hand corner of the player, and to change the colors you'll want to review the player job aid here for which elements to update in the player.
