Quizmaker misbehaves when upgrading project to Storyline 2
Apr 12, 2016
Hi there, first time posting and hope I can get my problem solved.
The setup:
- Company I work for used Storyline 1 to create a suite of courses which contain engage interactions and quizmaker files that act as learning checks once a chapter is completed. The students are assessed using an exam after completing the module.
- Once the student selected a choice from the answers and clicks submit, a layer is brought up (correct/incorrect)
The Problem:
After converting said SL1 file(with integrated engage and quizmaker files) to Storyline 2 and publishing, everything works as it should except one thing - The above mentioned layer appears and then slides down the page where it cannot be seen or interacted with and as such blocking course progress. Opening the course with Storyline 1 and publishing it solves all issues, however I would still like to understand why and what causes this behavior of said quizmaker files.
Many Thanks,
Vlad

Hi, Vlad -- Thanks so much for reaching out! May I ask a few questions just to clarify? Are you importing directly from Quizmaker into SL2 as described here? Or, are you updating an SL1 project to SL2 (which happens to contain Engage and Quizmaker files that had been previously imported into the SL1 file you are attempting to update)?
Hi Christie,
Many Thanks for the reply. Apologies for not being clear from the get-go. I am updating an SL1 project to SL2 which contains Engage and Quizmaker files.
Hi, Vlad -- Many thanks for the additional details, and without seeing your file, it's difficult to offer suggestions on what may be happening. If you'd like to share your file for private review, please use this form and I will be in touch via email shortly thereafter with my findings! :)
Just finished uploading the .story file. If any more details are needed please let me know.
Cheers for looking into this.

Thanks, Vlad! Just wanted to touch base to confirm your case #00775158 has been received and I will let you know what I find as soon as possible. Your patience is appreciated!
Hi Christie,
Just wanted to update you on the fact that I have now reuploaded a version of the course that you can publish and see exactly where the problem is.
Cheers once again for looking into this
Many thanks for the update, Vlad, and it looks like our engineer, Rowie, is continuing to work on your case with the newly-supplied file! I will continue to monitor the progress being made, and I intend to share updates here for others who may benefit! :)
UPDATE for anyone who may be following along here...
One of our support engineers reached the following conclusion that was shared with Vlad in his case last week:
"We have reviewed your project file and we were able to duplicate your issue. I have submitted your case to our Quality Assurance team for their review. As a workaround you can try doing the following below:
- Remove the feedback animation
- Apply or use a different animation for the feedback
I cannot offer a time frame for when or if this issue will be resolved so please continue to take advantage of the workaround if you encounter this issue in the future."
Hope that helps others who come across this thread with a similar question in the future!
