Radio Button

Oct 03, 2012

Hello,

I've made a multiple choice quiz and instead of the circular radio buttons, I'd like to make the options a check mark.  How do I change them?

Hi Peter,

I'm new to Articulate and have been doing pretty well but I have the same question you answered here. I'm using Studio though--Quizmaker specifically--not Storyline. My answer options are defaulting to check boxes but I'd prefer radio buttons. I've looked through the discussions and have explored every tab trying to find the answer but have been unable to. How do I change these and include them on the master? Thanks in advance!!

Hi Shannon,

Peter doesn't get into the forums as much as he's in a new position at Articulate, but using Quizmaker and the question types will determine the style of check box vs. radio button. I believe these are general UI guidelines for when to use one vs. the other:

  1. Radio buttons are used when there is a list of two or more options that are mutually exclusive and the user must select exactly one choice. In other words, clicking a non-selected radio button will deselect whatever other button was previously selected in the list.
  2. Checkboxes are used when there are lists of options and the user may select any number of choices, including zero, one, or several. In other words, each checkbox is independent of all other checkboxes in the list, so checking one box doesn't uncheck the others.

Hope that helps - and just as an FYI, this is the Storyline forum where things can bet a bit different as you can create your own questions by adding buttons and choosing how they act, as opposed to Quizmaker which has the built in questions and their styles. You may want to look in the Quizmaker forum in the future.
