Radio Button

Hi, I've been trying to set up a set of questions where participants will be asked to choose one of the following options for those questions:

+3 Always              -1 Once in a great while
+2 Usually             -2 Rarely
+1 Sometimes       -3 Never

 

I've created a likert scale survey and used radio buttons and a variable to add and subtract values corresponding to the responses to tally up the scores.

(e.g. When the state of Always 1 - "Radio button" is selected, Add 3 to "Result")

However, I realized that values are being added and subtracted every instance when a radio button is selected, which throws off the total that I want.

(e.g. When a person 'selects' always but decides 'usually' is a better answer, it adds 5 to the results instead of 2, since 'usually' as well as 'Always' have been "selected")

Would there be a way to only allow making changes to the 'Results' variable when the submit button has been clicked?
