Radio Button - Populate text on next Slide
Apr 14, 2017
Hi Heroes,
I have a issue right now that I need help on. I have 4 radio buttons that are set up in a freeform slide that do not need a correct or incorrect submission, and I need them to populate on the next slide.
The radio buttons are titled: Attitude, Clear Expectations, Compentance and Resources.
So if the user selects any of them the text should populate in the next slide.
I have attached a file with a simple 2 slider. If anyone can help me.
Thank you,
Carrie A

Hi Carrie
see if the attached works for you. I have created a variable for each of the radio buttons on the first slide. The respective one is triggered to true when the user clicks submit. On the second slide I have the four potential words in their own textbox set to initial hidden state. They are all positioned on top of each other. When the variable on the first slide is triggered to true, it changes the state of the corresponding text box on the second slide.
Hope this helps or gives you an idea.
Yes. That is what I needed! :D
I figured it was something close to the Data Entry field variables. I looked at the file and went through the settings and I completely understand it.
I have quite a few slides that I have to apply it to. I appreciate your help Wendy. You are truly my HEREO! ***
Thank you from a beginner in Storyline.
Great news Carrie - glad it worked for you :-)
It worked for the first one. So I tried it on the second one and it's not working properly. The states of the boxes on the second slide are not hiding. I don't know what I did wrong in the trigger? I looked between the one you sent back to me and everything looks the same. And I compared it to the other slides that I copied.
Wendy, do you have time to look and see what I missed? The slides are "1.4 Assess George Questions" and "1.6 Your Notes About George".
Much Appreciation, Care
Hi Carrie
quick and easy solution - on slide 1.6 each of the text boxes should be set to initial state hidden on the 'edit states' tab - your's are set to Normal. Use the dropdown arrow and select 'hidden' for all the textboxes.
Oh, I did miss that. Thank you so much!
I'm going to start creating short video tutorials for myself, so that I
don't miss anything.
Again, Thank you. You're a blessing. :)
No worries Carrie - glad it's working for you. :-)
I am glad that Wendy was able to help you Carrie :) Thanks for the update and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
Thank you, it did work last Friday. Goodness Gracious, I am now working on a different one, and I am finding that the Hidden state isn't working. I'm not sure where I goofed up?
I am working in Storyline 360 and on a 30 day trial. Could that be something?
Hi Carrie
two things.
The variables are set up with a default to True instead of false so the triggers are not working. Also, the Jump to slide trigger should go after all the 'set' triggers otherwise the set triggers will never fire. Once you make those changes it will work as expected.
Updated file attached. See this info about trigger order (very important to make sure triggers are executed in the right order).
