Random audio cutout on some slides in published output

Oct 12, 2015

I have a 107 slide project, all with audio.  When published, some small number of slides do not complete their audio, which stops at some random point, but this 'random point' is repeatable.  That is, the audio stops at the same place each time played.  When I do nothing other than republish, those particular slides that had trouble will be OK but some other slides will then have the problem.  Out of the 107 slides, the problem occurs on 2 to 5 of them.

When I play the mp3 files that are in the published output, they play to the end of the audio.  This is in Storyline2.

Any thoughts as to what I might look for to solve this?

Hi, John -- Sorry to hear of the difficulty you are experiencing! First thing, can you please confirm that you are working locally on your course, but testing it in the intended environment? And I know you mentioned that you are seeing trouble on 2-5 slides, but it's never the exact same slides after republish, correct? I was hoping maybe you could pare down a sample file that only includes the slides you are having trouble with since your course has over 100 slides, but it sounds like there is no rhyme or reason to which slides are affected, so if you could share your file, we'd be happy to take a closer look for you.

Certainly, John! And if you do need to attach your file for review, I just wanted to note that if you reply via email, your attachment will not be accessible here in the thread, so you will need to use the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left corner of the reply box to upload your file. Please let me know if you have any troubles, and I hope Les' suggestion works for you! :)

Hi, John -- Sorry for any confusion, and no, there is no exact project limit (for either the number of slides or total size). I only mentioned the fact that it was over 100 slides as that can make troubleshooting a more involved process for staff and/or community members to nail down where the problem is occurring. For example, if you were seeing issues consistently on slides 8-14, it would be great if you could pull out slides 8-14 and put them into a separate file to share so it would be a more focused area to direct our attention. However, as it sounds like you are seeing the issue randomly, you'd be welcome to share the entire file, and we will gladly check it out for you!
