Random transitions between slides/layers/scenes.

Nov 07, 2013

Hi all,

I am currently designing a large grammar course using storyline. I have been using storyline daily for over a year now so like to think I have a grasp of its fundamentals, as it were. However, recently I after I returned to a saved version of my work, I found 7rl things had happened:

1- The majority of objects that contained text decided to change all the text within to the same colour as the object, thus rendering them illegible.

2- many objects had moved various distances from where they should be.

3- the transitions from slide to slide are pretty much random, or at least not doing what they are set to. (which SHOULD be fade, for every slide)

Now I have had to go through every single slide that this affected (over 60 slides and layers but only from 2 specific scenes) and manually change the text colour and object placement. This has taken me most of the day. However the slide transition problem isn't fixed and I don't know where else to try.

If this is a freak one off glitch then fine, but I have to admit I REALLY dont want to have to do that again as it is painfully tedious doing loads of work you've done already.

Any help would greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Sam,

It sounds like you're experiencing some odd behavior, so some of the first things to check are that you're:

  • Working on your local drive (your C: drive).Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, includingfile corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory pathto your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters(for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents orsymbols in your file names.

More information on that can be found in this article.

Additionally, if objects have moved or are displaced, you'll also want to check your DPI settings to ensure they're at 96 DPI.

Lastly, I'd suggest conducting a repair of Storyline just to clear out any other glitches. You'll just want to make sure you've saved and closed any open Storyline files.
