A customer wants me to provide a bank of 50 exam questions but they are only provided with 10 at random and have to get 8 to pass. I know how to do this in the question bank, but has anyone managed to do it with the question pages built in storyline, as a separate section, using the freeform pages? I expect this will involve a whole host of triggers if possible.
Using a question bank seems like it would be the easiest option here. You would just put a single question draw in 10 places through out the module, having it draw from the same question bank, and then the results slide is based off of those question draws, with a passing score of 80%. Is that what you are looking for?

I've not used question banks much, but I wonder how easy/hard it would be to add a question here and there (from your question bank) throughout your course using the method described here - https://community.articulate.com/series/articulate-storyline-360/articles/articulate-storyline-360-user-guide-how-to-draw-slides-from-a-question-bank

Randy, that's what I'm thinking as well.
Using this built in functionality would seem to be the preferred method
