Randomised quiz navigation and review customisation

Feb 25, 2015

I am currently working on a type of exam simulator in our courses, trying to replicate some of the user functionality that we have with our courses that were designed in flash (see attached image).

I was wondering, is there anyway of adding a structural matrix to a randomised question bank in SL, where the user can skip through questions and revisit unanswered ones before submitting their results?

In addition, what would be the best way of activating a layer that only appears whilst the user is reviewing their questions? In order to give the user added feedback.

Hi Alexander,

Have you looked at the information here in regards to how a user can submit all the information at once?

Also, in regards to the review - there is a review layer generated automatically when you enable the "review" from your results slide for each question. There review layer can be customized further as described here.

Hi Ashley,

I seem to be having an issue with the review layer of my quiz. Despite leaving feedback in the post-quiz review, and the fact that there is a review layer, when I review the quiz this layer does not appear. Is there a particular trigger that I need to set up in order to get this layer to appear?

Could you perhaps have a look at my project?

Many thanks.

Hi Alexander,

Thanks for sharing the .story file. I took alook and I think the issue you're running into is you've made changes to the questions that are not a part of your question bank - those ones include the review layer, although the question bank ones don't have any custom review set up.

I do see the general review of showing the "incorrect/correct" banner on the bottom of your questions though as they are drawn from the question bank.

Hi Alexander - I guess it depends on what you'd like to happen... :-)

If the questions not in the question bank (but in the additional scene) are all correct and set up as you'd like, import those into the question bank and replace the other ones. Then it should work as expected showing those custom review layers when the user reviews the question.

If the questions in the question bank are the correct set up/question - then you'll need to make the edits and changes to the review layer to have your custom elements included, and then you can keep them all in that question bank.
