Raw Score on Launch

Is there a way to ensure the raw score is not passed until a quiz is started?

We have a Storyline course that includes a final knowledge check at the end of course; however, as soon as the course is launched, it passes a raw score of 0. It wouldn't be a problem except our status page, within the LMS, grabs that number and adds a 'fail' string in the reports which confuses clients. The course is published in as SCORM 1.2 (Passed/Incomplete)...
