Re-launching HTML5 Course --No Audio

Mar 07, 2013

I'm trying to help a client with an issue she is having with Storyline for iPads.

The course is published to AICC.  It is narrated and slides do not advance automatically.

The first time you launch the course (HTML5) you hear the audio; however, if you do not finish and then re-launch the course with your iPad, the audio does not play.  Not good . . .

I've verified the issue with her .story file and re-publishing the course in the LMS, both as AICC and SCORM 1.2.

I'm using Storyline Update 2 and my iPad2 is on iOS 6.1.2.

If I publish the course to the web and then access the content from my Amazon S3 account with my iPad2, I see the same behavior.

Now here's the kicker, I load the course in the SCORM Cloud and there's never any narration.

Any ideas why the missing narration?

Hey, Pete!  Not to rain on your parade . . .

There still is one outstanding related open issue with this, one I discovered late in the beta for Update 3.

If you have a course with narration, and your slides are set to "reset to initial state" when revisiting, sometimes--albeit rarely--when you do revisit a slide the audio on it may not replay or it will replay truncated on your iPad.

This doesn't happen all the time.  But when it does, if you go one slide forward and then back, the audio usually plays again.

I was able to give you folks the steps to repro the issue.  I'd expect it to get addressed in the future.

Even though the issue exists, I'm not delaying releasing any training because of it.  Most folks may never see (or hear) it.

I worked with Brian B. on this.  Came out of a discussion of a bunch of issues that my main client was having with implementing Storyline, especially with their Saba LMS.  So I was communicating with both Mark S. and Brian directly.

Can't say a lot publicly but both Mark and Brian were very responsive and helpful.  Couldn't ask for better.

I also did not do a good job at first giving Brian the steps to repro.  But he got it after my "fumbling."

Thanks, Gerry. I see it now and we'll have it fixed in time for Update 4 if all goes according to plan

Hello Peter and all folks from the friendly Articulate stuff!

I wonder what the plans are for Update 4, and whether it is still scheduled to fix audio bugs.

I see that this thread is few months old, but I just discovered t by running into same issue - courses do not play narration audio on refresh. This happens on iPad Safari, in and out of LMS.

Before I go through the routine of submitting the ticket and/or sharing the source, I wonder if you can provide an update and confirm that this is still a known and an outstanding issue.

Thank you so much!

Hello everyone,

Old post I see, but recently I have been having the similar issue with audio not playing within the Articulate Mobile Player (using my iPad, of course).

The issue is with a video (I believe it was either an flv or swf prior to publishing) that plays as soon as the curriculum loads, but from there the audio doesn't make a sound (unless you have headphones plugged in). I thought maybe it was the iPad itself, but other audio plays fine from the music and other apps on the device. Also, the content works fine in all the other published formats (the flash and html5 versions).

I think it can be isolated down to the Articulate Mobile Player itself, but since there are no updates and no forums for it I am left perplexed at this moment. Please help.

Yeah, sorry about that Ashley. I find it easier to get help with things using a bigger "net" to try and catch people's attention with. Plus, it then helps others more to repost solutions onto the multiple forums I started in, again with the net analogy, to help other passerby who may be looking for the same answer. I like to help, plus think ahead.

Will keep to the other forum for now, but thank you for finding me

I have not yet Leslie. Unfortunately, I am on Vista Business and Soon to
be on Windows 7. There seems to be some problem with my service pack 3
and IIS all working together with Articulate products in general. I
haven't had a lot of luck with updates due to my system environment.
I'll give it another shot and see if this doesn't resolve the issue.

Leslie,

I updated Studio 13 per your recommendation:

Leslie,

I'm very confused. Why did my file lose the paths, my player templates,
and audio inside engage files when I installed update 5. There are a
number of issues here, so NO, the new issue/s are not resolved.

What happened? Any idea?
