Re-opening wrong since upgrading to SL 3

Jan 26, 2018

Yesterday I upgraded from SL2  to SL3, and since I published in this new program my uploads in HTML5 are opening strange. The player is not working correctly. I tried resetting it and publishing again, but that didn't work. I enclose a screenshot and the SL file. The file can be accessed using: http://syncopedia.org/uploads/E-learning%20module%20for%20medical%20students%20-%20Storyline%20output/story_html5.html

Anyone has any suggestions to repair this?

Thank you.

Hi Jelle,

Thanks for sharing your file here!

I uploaded a copy of your course to Amazon S3 here (HTML5 format), and tested it on all the usual browsers for Mac and Windows 10. I'm unable to recreate the text issue at the bottom of the page as seen in your screenshot on my end, but I do see the text issue in your output link. Do you see any weird behavior when accessing my link on your end?

For next steps:

  • Can I confirm which publish format you're using? (Publish as HTML5, HTML5/Flash, or Flash/HTML5)?
  • Are you able to upload your course to either Amazon S3 or Tempshare and share the link here? This will help us determine if there is an issue with how your site is loading the course.

I also wanted to share this handy article on best practices for working on Storyline files.

I'll be standing by!

Hi Katie,

Thank you for the response. It seems to be working on the tempshare upload: http://s3.amazonaws.com/tempshare-stage.storyline.articulate.com/sto_1c53bul9l130c8eebf91id917sp9/story.html

I used the format of HTML5/Flash if available (the default), to be able to use the app when accessing on a phone or tablet. I'll try publishing in HTML5 on my server only to see if that works. The weird thing is this is only happening when using SL3, when publishing in SL2 no problems occur.

Thanks for those updates, Jelle! 🙂I ran some more tests, but I'm still unable to recreate the player issue/notice any difference in functionality between Flash and HTML5.

The strange thing is that your initial link showed the player working properly once today. Screenshot here. Since your course worked as expected after an upload to Tempshare, it could be that your server is having issues with the HTML5 version. Have you had a chance to check in with your server administrator?
