Re-ordering Slides in Storyline

Aug 08, 2019

I have been working with the Articulate products for a few months now and for the most part I love them. My biggest problem is reordering the slides which I would have thought would have been as simple as using Microsoft PPT. However, I've found that I cannot simply pick one up and move it so that the slide order is different. For some reason they keep jumping out of the order I need them to be in and the only fix I've found is to CTRL x and then CTRL v the slides around which breaks all of my triggers. Please let me know if there is a more efficient way to re-order slides! I must be missing something.

Hello Lily and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

Thanks for reaching out and sharing that you are running into difficulty re-ordering slides in Storyline.

I recorded a quick Peek 360 video of myself re-ordering slides in story view.

Is this how you are re-ordering your slides as well? Would you be able to share a screen recording of what you are seeing so that I can take a look?

Hi Leslie,

Thank you for taking the time to not only reply but to also shoot a video to show me what you could see. I'm uploading a mocked up version of my project as I work with sensitive information.

My project is a bit more complicated with a menu bar that allows the user to click through the various topics as they need, click the arrows in the player at the bottom right to go forwards and backwards, or to simply sit through the entire presentation.

The trouble comes with the last 2 options as the order becomes mixed up. When I try to re order the slides my triggers break and the slide numbers remain the same even if the slide itself moves.

Thank you again for all of your help and guidance!

Hey Lily,

Thanks for sharing your .story file so I could take a look.

I wouldn't get hung up on the 'numbers', but the triggers are adjusting as I move the slides around. This is the most important piece.

Would you be able to share a Peek 360 demo of the steps you're taking when the triggers are breaking?

If you'd like to share your file privately, then with your permission, please share your project file with our support engineers to investigate what's happening. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.
