RE: Question slide masters

Sep 01, 2014

Hi All

I know that you can make question master slides in Storyline, in the main Master view.

However, when I create a new multiple choice quiz question using the Insert Slides>Quizzing>Multiple Choice route, the multiple choice questions appear in the top left corner.

I want to be able to change this master - is it accessible?

Otherwise, I'm going to have to manually move the questions each time I create a new multiple choice.

Any feedback or advice on this really appreciated!

Thanks

Luke

Hi Luke,

There isn't a Multiple Choice master per se. But here's how I've worked around this...and I've attached an example.

As you noted, there's a Question Layout in the Slide Master view. I duplicated the Question Master and named it "Custom for MC."

I'm not sure how you want to size and position the MC buttons, but I moved them way to the right and sized the MC box narrower. To help to distinguish it from the default Question layout (clarification for you), I also inserted a light green background rectangle.

I went back to normal view, right-clicked on my Multiple Choice slide, and selected the custom layout to apply it to the MC slide.

There's also a T/F question on the attached that uses the default Question layout.

Please shout out with any questions.

Hi Rebecca,

I tried to use the solution you mentioned in your response but every time I select the "Customer for MC" layout the alternatives get all crammed into one side of the screen, and a scrolling panel shows. I experienced this on my project and with your project that I have downloaded.

I'm attaching my project. Could take a look and help me identify what might be causing it?

Thanks!

Ana

Hi Ana,

Thanks for reaching out here and sharing a copy of your file. It seems that is how Rebecca set it up to go to the right hand side. If you need it to behave differently you'll want to look at adjusting it on your custom slide layer.

It's also worth noting that Rebecca's original file was created in SL1 and you'll have to upgrade it to use in SL2. It should be a seamless transition but there are some changes to how text/formatting were handled in SL2 to provide for a better experience so you may see some changes to that as well.

Hi Ana,

The bug filed as a part of that thread was in relation to how the Answer choice box will always appear below the question text even if you have moved their location on the master slide question layout that change doesn't take place once adding questions or applying that layout. So I don't think that matches what you're seeing or describing here - so perhaps if you have a new file you'd like us to take a look at can you share it here and describe a bit more about what's occurring? You could also send it along to our Support engineers here.
