Reader not reading user's score correctly on results slide

Aug 01, 2012

Hello -

On my results slide, the screen reader is reading the variable reference, i.e. %Results1.Score% % (%Results1.ScorePoints% points) instead of the value - the user's actual score.  I read somewhere in a previous post (can't seem to find it now) that this would be working correctly in the official release.  Any idea when this will be fixed?

Thanks!

Hey guys,

Thanks for posting on this. You're correct that the bug has been identified by our QA team, and they're working hard to get it fixed so we can have it corrected for our next update, which should be soon. Thanks for your patience

any news on this issue? I have the beta version at the moment and it still hasn't been fixed

Hi Mandy,

It looks like this is something we're still trying to work with. I don't believe the issue will be any different in the beta, at this point.

Here's more information:

If your Storyline course includes variable references or result slides (which often contain variable references for scores), you may find that JAWS readers read the variable reference itself (such as "percentage sign, name, percentage sign") rather than the value of the variable (such as "Jane"). This is a known issue. It's currently under investigation. We'll post more information here as it becomes available:

I do know that we're working on another update at the moment, but I'm afraid I'm not sure if this has been added to the list yet.
We'll try to keep the community updated for any news regarding this issue, so make sure you subscribe to this thread.
Thanks!

Hi Terry,

Thanks for the information! I can't seem to find any information on a report similar to the one you've described.

Could you share a .STORY file that we can test, please? You'll be able to attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:
