Recall User Selection

Hi Everyone! I'm creating a course where I want to show users a selection they made on a previous slide. 

Basically, I'm presenting information, asking them to respond (Agree/Disagree/Unsure), presenting additional information, then showing their first response and asking if that would still be their answer.

How can I  save and access that initial response? I've tried adjusting variables, but can't figure out how to use values those values to control screen elements.
