Recent Quirk: Buttons missing on Launch

Mar 20, 2017

Greetings,

Within the last couple of weeks I've had iPad users begin reporting that when launching a course, the "Would you like to continue where you left off?" dialog box is missing the Yes/No buttons.  They're there actually, just invisible. Any ideas?

Hey there Jim,

That's definitely not ideal, thanks for letting us know! To help investigate this a bit further, I have a few more questions when you have a moment:

  • Where are your courses being hosted for users to access from?
  • Are you using Storyline 2 or Storyline 360?
  • What publishing settings are you using?
  • What iOS version are the iPads on experiencing this?

Keep me posted! You're also welcome to share one of your .story project files here that your users have been reporting seeing this in. I'd be happy to test it out on my end. Thanks again!

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, Jim! That's great information.

First, just a quick note that replying via email attaches your signature in the thread comment. You're welcome to pop in here and edit any personal information out if desired!

I'm doing a bit of testing on this issue using SCORM Cloud to troubleshoot and will get back to you here shortly! One more question quick, are you using the option for Articulate Mobile Player when publishing for your LMS or just displaying the HTML5 version?

Thanks again, Jim! I did some testing in SCORM Cloud with a file I published for SCORM 1.2 using the HTML5 option but not AMP. I launched it on my iPad running iOS 10.2.1, exited and then relaunched. The Yes and No buttons both appear visible for me. I did a recording of what I'm seeing which you can check out here

Take a look at the course over here and let me know if you get a different outcome on your end. If everything looks normal, your best bet would be to reach out directly to WestNet's support. Since SCORM Cloud is an industry standard for LMS, if that wonky behavior isn't reproducible there then it's likely an LMS specific issue.

Keep me updated on that!

Arg! Sorry you're having to go through the run-around, not a fun situation to be in. Feel free to keep me updated here if they have any further insight, I'm interested to know the outcome.

To cover all bases, I'd also recommend testing out one of your courses specifically in SCORM Cloud that you've been getting reports of this issue for. You can sign up for a free account with SCORM Cloud for testing purposes; it really comes in handy. If you're seeing it there with one of your files, don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks!
