When I try to use the Record Screen function in Storyline, I get through my recording, but when I click done and go to save it, Storyline crashes. My recording is about 7-8 minutes long. I have tried this several times now, always with the same result.
Sorry to hear about the trouble with this. Hopefully we'll be able to get this resolved quickly for you :)
First, please make sure that you're working with a local project file when you modify or try to add any new content (including your screen recordings) to your project. If you're working on a network drive, or any other external storage, that might be causing the trouble.
Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).
Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.
If you're already working locally with your Storyline project files, it may help to run a quick repair:
I am having the same issue a year later and after 6 attempts with instructions from your thread here and also from support - I have tried to repair and fix, install and uninstall, sent fault logs, etc, I cannot record with Articulate Storyline. Looks like I will need to revert to Captivate unless someone can really help?
Hi Yeeming! I popped in and see where you are working on your support case (00620009) with Miker.
Looks like you are narrowing it down to possibly your anti-virus.
I'd advise to continue working with Miker on this issue and if someone in the community has any advise or experience to share, they are welcome to pop in.
Thanks Miker - You are a champion! Yes, it had to do with some settings in AVG - which had not been an issue until 1 August. Glad to be able to use Articulate Storyline for recording :)
