Recorded screen graphics disappearing from the slide

Aug 15, 2013

Some weeks back I had this issue and Christine was able to fix it when I sent her the slides.

I have a new project and two slides in the project are having the same issue.  There is nothing showing in the properties or timeline that allow me to troubleshoot.

The issue is that the recorced screen graphic disappears from the slide before the timeline ends.

I would like to know if there is a fix I can perform or whether someone from Articulate has to use their Harry Potter wand and fix it for me.

Help!

Hi Doris,

I went back and saw the previous post where Christine helped you, and what seems to have fixed it on her end was "I reinserted the recordings and replaced the additional content onto the slides that were generated by the original screen recording from the project. All seems to be working just fine now."  Were you able to try that?

If you'd like to share the new slides here, I'm happy to take a look at it.

Hi Ashley and thanks for responding to the post.

I did not see that notation that you have from Christine (and am not sure what that means).

I'll happily send you the offending slides

There are 2, unconnected to each other.  All other slide content remains, just the recorded image disappears.  I'd love to know your view on why this might be happening; this is the second project with this issue and I've never had this happen before.

Thanks again!

Hi Doris,

I took a look at your file, and based on the original recording for the first slide, I was able to move the mouser cursor to match appropriately. From the second slide, I can't find this original section within your recording to reinsert it, since I can't even see it on the slide timeline. So not a magic wand...but hopefully a minor fix. If you can point me toward that part of the recording, happy to try again!

Hi Ashley:

Sorry for my delay in responding, I work only Wed - Friday. (I came in today to see if we had this fix so I could get the file updated for a showing tomorrow).

From what I can see, the first slide is still showing the graphic disappear from the screen too soon.

For both of these slides, I've added the next slide into the file, so you can see what I mean.  (I have turned off the Screen Recording object because it comes on too soon.)  By adding in the next slide in the progression, I think you'll see what I'm talking about.

I've turned off those Screen Recording objects on almost all my slides but a few because it shows the next slide long before I'm ready for it.

Hope this makes sense.  Is it feasible for us to chat by phone about this this week?

Hi Doris,

No apologies necessary - I'm just sorry I couldn't fix it right. I've gone ahead and submitted a Support case (# 00351930) on your behalf so that our team can walk you through what's happening. I made sure to reference this thread, so they should know what we've already tried and they'll go from there! I'll also follow along too!
