Recording a software simulation is easy!!

Jul 14, 2020

I have been told that Articulate Storyline 3 is great for recording video & building 'try out' simulations, so I thought I would give it a go myself.  Well two frustrating days later and I still haven't managed to record a single video.  I have tried every possible combination of screen resolution and selection available within Articulate Storyline 3 to record a simulation but the software refuses to record the contents of the recording area (red frame) selected, instead it only records half the screen!

Anyone got any advice to offer, have even tried an uninstall/reinstall of articulate but still no good.  I am using a laptop connected to two monitors and I want to record a software simulation,  based on software I have installed within a VM (Virtual Machine).     See attachment for an example of the 'rubbish' output.

Hi John!

So sorry for the trouble! I've heard that others have reported a similar issue when using multiple monitors. Have you tried recording your screen without the additional monitors plugged in?

Is it an option to only record on your laptop and then plug in the additional monitors after recording?

Let me know if that helps eliminate the screen recording snag!

I have tried every configuration there is, 3 screens, 2 & 1, laptop only, but none will work.

When I click the record screen option in AS3 and tab to the screen I want to record the red recording frame is not accessible so there is no way to actually start the recording.

Seems using a virtual machine is a problem for Articulate?
