Recording Screen cast video - step by step

Feb 22, 2013

Hi

I am trying to create a interactive learning form for faculty to teach them how to create their own BlackBoard9 grading forms.

I love the way I can make my video into interactive slides, but when I am creating the lesson, I guess the student has to fill in the form exactly the way I did. I know I can change the descriptions on the left column to say fill in your own course name, but if theirs is different than what mine was, a incorrect box comes up. Does this mean that they just have to do exactly as I do to learn? I should just type in the form boxes - Type your own selection- but  they will have to type exactly as I did  for the lesson and then when they go to do their own stuff, type in their correct info.

In general Mikki, you can make the "text entry" fields behave however you want it.. you can set them to "variables" in which case it will equal to the value of whatever they typed in or you can also specify what needs to be typed in it and even set them as case sensitive.

That being said, if while going through it with them for example.. you can have them type in "Joe Smith" too or even tell them to type in their own name provided that your text entry field is set to accept any value.

NOTE: If the concern is the "incorrect layer" popping up - you can just simply delete that trigger from your slide.

You can create your own variables and access existing ones (system generated) here... see screenshot.

Mikki, you may not necessarily have to create a variable if you don't plan on referencing them later on. You can just simply edit the Data Entry that was generated for you OR you can even just remove the freeform completely so it just becomes a field they can type in.

see example.. here  I did a screenrecording of how to use notepad.. pay attention to slide 1.5. I initially typed my name on the actual screenrecording. But by removing the freeform and editing the hint caption, they can now type in anything they want.
