Recording software simulation: Keyboard shortcuts by user

Apr 11, 2013

Hello,

I have recorded a software simulation and chose the interactive "test" setting for the scene.

The mouse clicks export fine but there is one slide on which the user needs to press [Ctrl+C].

Apparently, the bowser blocks the [CTRL] key. Is there any way around it?

Hi Marco,

If it's an issue with the keyboard command when viewing it in a browser, you could have the user simply use the "C" key and note that in the live version of the software, they'd need to use the CTRL+C combination.

I believe this is actually happening because of the CTRL+C combination itself, not the CTRL function. For example, if you try CTRL+Enter with a trigger this combination works.

For now, it may be best to try a different combination, or use a single key for the simulation.

Good luck with the project, Marco!

Hi Marco,

I don't believe so, no. The the commands that usually encounter problems are those that don't work well with Flash, etc.

Now, your users will still be able to copy content, but the triggers for CTRL+C won't work properly, if at all. Maybe I misunderstood you earlier, I was under the impression you were trying to have the interaction trigger an effect when the learner used this combination.

What type of content, exactly, are you trying to have copied to the clipboard? Is it content that's already been entered with the interaction, or content that your users will be entering?

Thanks!

Christine
