So, I'm messing around in Storyline (skewing characters, Steve knows what I'm talking about) when I get this:

Not sure what it is...

Have I broken something?  (.story included)

I'm having the same issue with Storyline2. Never had it with S1. I verified, per the above, that my color depth is NOT set too low. The only way I get around this is rebooting my PC. Closing the project has no impact. After rebooting I was good for about 6 slides then it happened again. I'm guessing its somehow related to me copy/pasting content over from a MS Word table into the notes section. I don't have Admin rights for the PC, so I can't try the steps posted earlier. Any other suggestions for a fix welcome. Hard to make any progress in my course if I keep rebooting every 6 slides.

Hi J,

Our QA team is aware of an issue where inserting a table from MS word is causing the red X issue. They're investigating it, but in the meantime, you can insert the table in PowerPoint and then import it into Storyline. Or use any other methods in this KB article: Tables in Articulate Storyline.

I'll include this thread in the report filed with our team so that we can follow up with you once there is additional information.

It would be nice for others who come here to know if the fix is :

  • deleting the layer with the text on (it isn't),
  • the slide (doesn't seem to work)
  • the whole Story needs to be re-done (ugh)

Re-booting didn't fix it for me.  I did delete all slides that I thought had imported text from Word tables and it appears to be working OK so far.

Thanks

Richard

Hi Richard,

The Red X is typically an element of corruption - so without seeing the file there isn't any way to say for certain. What I would recommend is importing each slide into a new file, and going slide by slide to see at what point the red X appears and then you know that you only have to update/edit that slide/layer
