I am running Storyline 2. In the past few months, I have occasionally gotten the "red X of death" in the Notes section of every slide. Yesterday I got in a project, and it would disappear when I close and reopened. That happened 5 times. Now it doesn't go away, ever. I had our IT support follow the directions here and do the reinstall.
I also tried importing it to a new file. No luck. I am running the attached specs.
It sounds like you've gone through all the steps I would normally recommend so my next step would be to advise you to work directly with our Support Engineers here so that they could take a look at the exact steps you're going through to replicate the issue and any sample project files you have.

I forgot to add, it is installed locally and my project is also locally saved.
