References Tab Links and Text Hyper-links

Apr 12, 2013

I hope someone can help me with this issue I'm having. I have been trying to hyper-link a pdf document using a text hyper-link and when I publish the course the link will not open the pdf. So I tried the pdf by placing it in the Resources Tab and it will open, which is a good think because I know it is not a security issue. Looking at the difference between the Resources Tab link string and the Trigger text hyper-link string I noticed that the Resources Tab string looks like this; \\psf\Home\Documents\file.pdf and this link works. Now lets look at the how the Trigger string looks; \\psf\\Home\\Documents\\file.pdf and this link will not work. Is there a programming reason why the Trigger hyper-link places a double back slash (\\) between each folder etc...  and the  Resources Tab string does not?  I read the Articulate support comment that states "This is a known issue.  It will not affect the functionality of your published Storyline content.  Your file hyperlink will still work as expected." But I cannot figure out why I cannot get my Text Hyper-links to work. Please advise thank you.

Hi Dan!

Just curious, how are you viewing the published course? I have seen some cases where viewing it locally won't cause issues with the resources, but hyperlinks won't work - or vise versa.

If you haven't already, try uploading the course to a web server or LMS and see if the hyperlink works.

If you're still not able to get the link working are you able to share the .STORY file or .PDF file(s)?

Thanks!

Christine
