Remove Next Button From Question Bank
Jan 31, 2015
Hi there,
How do I remove the next and previous buttons from a question bank? We are using a question bank to randomize certain questions. We would like users to answer questions in the question bank and then proceed through to the assessment questions that are not in the question bank.
We have created triggers on the individual slides in the question bank that jump to the next slide when the user clicks the submit button.
However, if we attempt to remove the next and previous buttons from Story View, the question bank detaches from the rest of the slides in our project.
We are opposed to having the next and previous buttons, since are users are required to answer the questions of the course test. Having the next button in place allows the user to skip the question, which we can not have happen.
I look forward to receiving a response!
Thanks!
Sara

Hi Sara!
Please review the attached file to understand how to hide next and previous default buttons in question bank.
Regards.
Hi Sara -
By default, when a bank is created, the next and previous buttons are not added. Do you have an example file that we can take a look at?
Hi Sara,
Question slides, including in a question bank would have the 'submit' button included, and you'd see the next/prev on a review or revisit to that slide. Did you check into the slide properties to determine if you had included them there by mistake? If you're having difficulty with this, we'd like to take a look at your .story file as Steve mentioned.
Thanks Hassan. Your solution saved the day!
For anyone else having this issue, the solution is to tick the boxes for 'Prev' and 'Next' on the Slide Properties on your question slides, and then add two triggers to each question slide:
'Change state of the Next button to Hidden when the timeline starts' and 'Change state of the Previous button to Hidden when the timeline starts'.
There is no other way to do this, seeing as you cannot edit the Slide Properties of the actual 'Draw from question bank' slides.
Glad this helped you out Kuriko, and thanks for writing it out in case folks can't open that file.
I experimented with Storyline 360 and found a nuance to share.
