I have exported a copy of my storyline file for translation and have submitted that copy to our translation team. However, after I have done that, I needed to make a change in my original storyline file -- i.e., I have to remove some Alt Texts.
My question is, will there be a problem exporting the translated texts back into my storyline file when some texts were removed from my original storyline file? I am concerned that the formatting will become messed up, etc.
If you've removed particular elements from your .story file I'd look at also removing them from the translation document before importing in. You could also always do a save as of your .story file and try without removing those elements from the translation document - but just ensure you have a back up of the Storyline file before going down that path.
I understand that it is not a good practice to make text changes before importing the translation files back to Storyline. However, I'd like to hear specifically what the consequence would be in the following cases:
If a sentence within a text box has been removed from the original file after exporting the translation file
If a sentence within a text box has been modified in the original file after exporting the translation file
If a sentence within a text box has been added in the original file after exporting the translation file
If an entire text box has been removed from a slide.
Good questions! If you were to make changes to the original file that aren't included in the translation then the changes would not be affected since they aren't included in the translation.
Let's say that you export one slide with a text box. After exporting the course as a doc, you add in another text box on the slide. You can only edit the first text box in the translation so when importing the doc back, only the first text box will be translated. The second would not be affected.
What if there were 2 text boxes in a slide when exporting it and when importing the translations one of them has been deleted? Would the tool skip that respective translation or it would try to fit it somewhere?

A translation replaces the content so it wouldn't create a new text box. In that case, it would skip the translation.
