Removing all yellow boxes / Tab Order

Feb 08, 2021

Hi,

My LMS makes the screen reader yellow boxes very visible and consequently I made the decision to remove all my objects from Tab Order.

However, this task is very time consuming (and painful on the wrist) to go through every slide of my large projects and remove all objects manually. Is there a trick to turn off the screen reader for an entire project file? Am I stuck going through them manually, one-by-one?

Hi Scott!

I'm happy to help! First, the Focus Rectangle is a setting within the screen reader and is usually found under the Vision settings. Here's what it looks like in NVDA. A screen reader user can turn this off manually. However, this isn't a setting controlled by the author.

In Storyline 360, you can customize the rectangle's color, which is located in the Player Properties. Here's a look at that too.

We don't offer a way to delete the entire tab order. This can only be done manually.

The changes made to the Tab Order will make it difficult for learners to navigate the course if they use assistive technology such as screen readers, braille displays, etc. We don't recommend deleting the entire tab order or removing the Focus Rectangle.
