Removing clickability from a image that has states

So here's what's happening. I've got a full screen image with various hotspots that I want users to click on (that takes them to another scene which when completed, changes a variable to True). When they complete the scene, it brings them back to the first image. That all is working just fine, but I've added a small icon next to the hotspots so users will know to click on the area. That icon changes when they complete the associated scene. However, when testing, I can click on the icon, and doing so will change its state to Visited and the icon will change. How can I remove the ability to click on the icon?

remove the visited (use a custom state which doesnt infer a clickable state) star or mask the object with a transparent state or hotspot
I see several options for adding a new state. Is there any way of knowing which ones do not infer a clickable state?
Nevermind. Figured it out that I could just create a new state name and didn't have to use one of the pre-configured states. Thanks for the help Phil!
Create a new state give it a name that is not a built in state this will not be clickable.
