Removing Hover Cover from Hyperlink - Hotspot not an option

Hello,
As near as I can tell, it is still not possible to simply remove the hover effect from a hyperlink. The solution getting shared to is just use a hotspot, which is an adequate work-around for many situations, but I have hyperlinks in textboxes that involve variables, so I can't be certain where the text will be located when the slide loads. The text may shift, which means the hotspot won't work.
Has anyone figured out a workable solution to this? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also, is there an appropriate place to recommend a feature request to be able to remove the hover color. It seems like that would be an easy fix.
Thank you,
Matt

Show the textboxes of those variable in a layer with a hotspot?
