Removing Mouse Cursor in Timeline (Recorded Screencasts)

Jul 08, 2013

My baseline Storyline project is a step by step recorded screencast that becomes a new "scene" with several slides.  Some of those slides we used to pause in Captivate, to stay paused until the user clicked on the highlighted field or object.  Now we have that object set up as an "object trigger" that when the user finally clicks on it, they jump to the next slide.

I thought I had that all working, but now, I am guessing since I asked for the mouse to be incorporated into the Storyline step by step recording, I cannot remove either the mouse cursor or the screencast, after the slides are brought over into a new "scene".  Storyline tells me I cannot delete the mouse cursor.

The issue is that I want to display the mouse indicator along with its one click sound, in many slides, just not those with user interaction.  Hiding the mouse cursor in the timeline kind of takes care of the issue, but still shows the red circle after it locates the field the user needs to click in. Is there any way to either delete the screencast from a slide or two (not deleting the entire screencast) or how can I delete the mouse cursor from a particular slide's timeline?  What is the best way to handle this?

Thanks Phil, that process sounds plausible as well, so I would need to re-record another screencast of just that group of slides, but toggle off inserting mouse cursor.  Then insert the new "scene" and use the replacement slides to replace what slides I want to not show the mouse cursor in the original scene.  Great idea!!

The screencast is already in storyline so just reinsert and remove the mouse cursor
