I have been trying to develop a custom player within storyline, but I need to remove all the features of the built-in player. I took care of most things except the prev/play buttons; however, I have since been able to remove these buttons. I thought that the space these buttons occupied below the slide would disappear, but it's still there.
How can I go about removing this space, so that I can just see the slide?
If you want to remove the buttons "next" and "previous" it is possible. You have to click on the "properties" of your slide (right bottom : Slide Layers). The icon is a wheel. Then, you can choose to hide or not the buttons.
This thread is a bit dated, but as Claire mentioned above this is entirely possible.
You can customize the properties for any slide in your course, including how it advances, what happens when learners revisit it, and which player controls are visible. See this tutorial for details:.

Hi!
You cannot remove the space entirely as it is part of the player. The best you can do is get things down to a thin border.
By removing elements on the space, you can make it smaller. You can also customize the player to make it all but disappear.
