Replacing pictures won't stay replaced

Feb 22, 2019

Hello,

I'm using Storyline 360 to produce some simple online content.

Many of my content slides have three links - one to read a document, one to watch a video, one to try a practice exercise.  I have been using web objects for the links to these materials.

I have been setting the web object, then using the "replace picture > content from 360 library" feature to give the objects a unified look through out my slides.   I have also used this "replace Picture" feature for the items that are just placeholder graphics, when there is not a web object.

The problem is that when I change the pictures, save and close the file and re-open the file, the pictures don't stay changed.   Also the thumbnail will show the change, but the slide will not have retained the saved image.   what am I doing wrong?   I have 61 of these courses and I need things to stay the way I set them.

Hi UTO Training,

Thanks for letting us know what's going on in your file – that sounds frustrating! I'm happy to help.

I did a test of the scenario you shared, and I wasn't able to reproduce the behavior. Can you tell me a little more about your file?

  • Are you on the latest update of Storyline 360? To check, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline. You should see 3.25.18009.0 in the bottom-right corner.
  • Where is your file saved – your local hard drive (C:) or a network drive?

Thank you for offering to help..

The storyline file is on my hard drive.

I have an evaluation license, while we get my real license purchased.

Since I am creating 60 similar courses, I am doing a "save as" of each completed project to make the next storyline file.

I am on the latest version.

It seems to be happening in multiple files..

here's another example, where the thumbnail is correct, but the slide is not.. very strange.

Hi UTO Training! Thanks so much for including the screenshot. That really helped me to get a clear picture of what you're seeing.

So it appears that the incorrect image is only displayed in the left slide panel, is that correct? Is the right image displayed on the slide itself, in Edit mode and Preview mode?

You also mentioned the affected image does not appear in Media Library prior to saving. This does sound suspect, so I'd like our Support Engineers to take a closer look at what's happening.

If that works for you, you can upload your file privately to our support team here. We'll give it a test and let you know what we find!
