From my experience the easiest way for this is the simplest. Forget about importing slides over to SL, just copy each element of each slide one by one. That will save you a lot of troubleshooting and general hassle should the PPT include features not supported by Storyline (such as animations etc).
Having said that, if the updated file is simpler than what I described above, then the safest way is to first create a new story and import there. Then, once you make sure all is fine you can copy the appropriate slides over from one story to the other ('other' being the one you have already developed).
