No that is not normal, may be the speed of your machine or the number of apps you have running a t one time. Also try and replace the video locally rather than on a network
Hmmm Thanks..I am not running much and I am working locally..My machine isnt great but it runs better with After Effects then Articulate.
I also now have a whole different issue as I am on 2 and my client is on Storyline, and they are completely incompatible, apparently. Why would you do that to your users! e gads. Now I have to find a copy of storyline..sheesh
I must say altho the finshed product is lovely, I am unimpressed with this program so far.
Thanks for your input, I appreciate it I will continue to shut down everything on my machine and pray :)
I agree with Phil; that is not normal, and since you already mentioned you are working locally, there are a few other things we can try. You may want to try importing the file into a new file, and if you are still having issues, you might want to try to repair Storyline. And, you are always welcome to submit a support case so we can investigate this issue for you further.
I've been using SL 2 for a little while and SL 1 before that, but haven't imported any video on SL 2 until yesterday and it is way slower than SL 1. I haven't timed it, but it seems like about 10 minutes per 3ish-minute clip. My computer also runs After Effects pretty well, like yours. Were you able to find a resolution? This is going to take forever, I have about 10 videos to import into each of 25 modules!
I actually went back to SL 1 which was a royal pain because the files made in SL2 are not compatible with SL1. CAn you imagine!? I basically had to redo all my work. I have found no solution but patience. SL1 is faster but still ridiculously slow...I find to replace 9 chapters totaling 2 hours of video time takes me close to 5 hours...so your ten minutes to 3 minute ratio seems about the same as mine.
I am using this at the request of a client, I will never use it again
And sadly I am on a per project basis rather then hourly!
I'm sorry about the issues you've run into - but Storyline 2 is not backwards compatible with Storyline 1. I haven't noticed any lags importing videos into Storyline 2, but could you tell us more about what type of video files or where they are located on your system? I know you mentioned working locally, but were the video files local as well? Did you also check that your computer is meeting and hopefully exceeding the minimum system requirements?
The whole team is using the latest upgrade of Storyline 2 and we are encountering the same issue.
No problems when importing the video for the first time but, when replacing them, the process is extremely time consuming (>10 minutes for a minute long video).
We just want to avoid changing all the triggers pointing to the videos every time we need to replace them. However, in the end of the day, it is worthy importing the video over again and rebuild the triggers.
Based on this forum discussion we weren't able to determine a specific issue or behavior to investigate further, so I don't have a resolution to share from the above. If you want to share a copy of the file we can always take a look at the behavior you're experiencing and help determine what's occurring in your file. . You’ll want to upload the .story file here (which is the file prior to publishing) using the “ADD ATTACHMENT” button at the bottom of the forums reply window. If you’d prefer to not share in the public you’re always welcome to share with our Support Engineers here. They’re available 24/7 to assist!
There is a fancy cool way to replace images in Storyline, you simply right click, and choose replace image. Is there any way to do the same with video? Otherwise, everything must be retimed every time the video is replaced.
There is the option to change the video as a part of the video editing properties shown here. This tutorial is for Storyline 2 - but you'd be able to do the same in Storyline 360.
That is a very cool link, and I found several useful tips there. I must be missing something. I don't see any way to change or replace a video on the page you shared.
Thank you for your patience, will kindly direct me to the screen where I can replace an embedded video?
OMG! I swear I've done that a thousand times in the last two weeks and never saw that choice! Thank you for providing the Crayon treatment for the slow learner.
Thank you again, Articulate for the amazing support!

Does this make sense?

Hi there Lee!
Is your video inserted from a file? If so, just right-click on the video and select Change Video.

Absolutely! So glad I could help, and I'll jump on any opportunity to use a gif in my response. :) They're so much fun to make!
Hi Alyssa,
Thank you for it does not an option to me. I have tried in different ways but that option does not show up in Story Line 2 (lastest service pack).
It is a mp4 video inserted as a video file.
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you again
Hi Pablo,
When you choose "Edit video" it'll open up this new screen and you should see the "Change video" in the top right hand corner as shown here:
If you're not seeing that can you share a screenshot of what you do see?
