Replay button overrides NEXT and BACK settings
Nov 03, 2015
Hi,
I need some help. The "Replay" button on the seekbar is doing something odd in my program, and I can't find anything that seems to apply to the issue. I've attached a sample to illustrate what is going on.
This is a multiple choice question, and for this customer the learner gets two attempts. I've created custom BACK and NEXT buttons so I have those turned off in the slide settings. However, when the learner has used up his/her attempts at the question, if he/she then selects the replay button, the standard player NEXT and BACK buttons appear.
Just to be sure everyone can duplicate my issue, here is the detailed sequence:
- Preview the slide/scene/project
- Select any answer
- Select SUBMIT
- Select CONTINUE or TRY AGAIN in the feedback screen that appears--it doesn't matter which--to return to the base layer/screen. If you managed to guess correctly on your first try, skip to step 8.
- Select any answer.
- Select SUBMIT
- Select CONTINUE to return to the base layer/main screen.
- Select the REPLAY button next to the seekbar--the default player NEXT and BACK buttons appear!
I can't figure out what is going on with this, and it is consistent across all my questions throughout the various lessons for this project, even when they are "Select all that apply" questions. That leads me to believe that it is in the player settings rather than a trigger within a particular question, because question type doesn't change the way it reacts.
Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?
Thanks in advance!
Ken

Hi, Ken -- I appreciate that you have shared your file and outlined the steps you took in order to reproduce the issue. I will run through some testing to see if I encounter the same behavior that you described, and I will reply here with my findings as soon as possible. :)
Hi, Ken -- Thanks for your patience while I tested your file, and I saw the same behavior that you detailed above, in both Preview and when I tested the file in the SCORM Cloud. Looking at the file itself, there does not seem to be an obvious cause for the behavior, so I would like our Support Engineers to take a closer look for you. I will go ahead and submit a ticket on your behalf and you will be hearing from a member of the Support staff after they have had a chance to review your file, as well.
Thanks Christie. I appreciate the help and support!
Hi, Ken -- My apologies, as it appears there was an error when your case was created. I have gone ahead and resubmitted your case (00688238), and the ticket was created successfully. I appreciate your patience and you will be contacted via email shortly. Thanks for understanding! :)
Was there resolution to this issue? I am experiencing the same problem only with a custom retry quiz button. The quiz in question is manually created, not using the templates. No next or previous buttons appear until the user gets through the quiz then click retry quiz, at which time the variables are reset and the first slide in the sequence is revisited.
Hi there, Meghan! What is the trigger that is attached to your custom retry quiz button? Are the slides set up so that you have the Next and Previous buttons unchecked for slide properties?
If you'd like to share your .story file, I'm happy to have a look at it!
Is there an email I can send it to? I can't post the project here.
Hi Meghan!
You are welcome to share your file privately here.
I already submitted a case for this 4 days ago. I haven't heard from anyone yet, although the case confirmation says I'll usually hear from someone within 2 days.
I understand Meghan. All of our teams have been exceptionally busy.
Looks like Wilbert has been in contact to assist you, so just be sure to respond there if you need further assistance.
