Replay Not Working
Jan 15, 2014
The replay feature next to the seek bar is not working consistently for my presentation. I have all of the slides set up the same way: Slide Advances - by User, When Revisiting - Automatically Decide.
It works on some slides, but not on others and I can't figure out a pattern or a reason why. Does anyone have any idea what the issue could be? Thanks for your help!

Hi Shannon,
It seems Automatically Decide can be inconsistent, which is what you're experiencing. The Replay button should work if you set slide properties to Reset to Initial State When Revisiting. Would this work for your lesson?
Hi Shannon,
I'd agree that if you're able to use Reset to initial state, you'll have better control over what happens to each slide. Below I've include how Storyline will handle the slide based on how you set the properties:
This property determines how objects on the slide behave if users revisit the slide later. Choose from the following options:
Thanks for your help, ladies! I will have to check with my manager to see if we can change the slide settings or if this is not what we want to do.
I guess I'm just confused because I thought the functionality of the replay button was to be able to restart the slide track at any point in time, regardless of the state of the slide. Is it not designed to work that way?
Hi Shannon,
Re your question, "Is it [The Replay Button ] not designed to work that way?"
I remember also when I first began to use SL being surprised that the Replay button didn't always replay the slide, "regardless." But as you can see based on the documentation that Ashley provided, ..." ...if the slide contains any interactive elements, such as buttons or any other object that includes a visited or selected state, Storyline resumes at the slide’s current state if users view the slide more than once...."
Thanks for all your help! We will just have to adjust the state of the slide when the learner returns. Thanks again!
Hi
I am having a terrible time getting articulate replay to work. I've done everything advised in the forums, deleted it, reloaded, updated it, downloaded the zip files.... Checked my windows settings....
It's never worked and I need to insert videos from a previous 08 presentation as they didn't move over into the 13 published output. Can I have advice please - it works for about 3 seconds then say's 'articulate replay has stopped working'. I've been trying to get it running for weeks. The videos work in the preview in articulate 13 but not when published to the server.
Please help!!!
Thanks - I can't waste anymore time on this.
Hi Sarra and welcome to Heroes!
So you've already tried the troubleshooting steps below for when Replay is not behaving as expected:
It sounds like there are two errors here - that Replay is not working and shuts down, and then your videos are not playing on the server when published in your course - that it sounds like you created in Presenter? It's possible that your server doesn't support the mp4 mime types, have you checked the published output anywhere else?
Hi Ashley
Thanks for the welcome.
I hadn't tried verifying the acceleration is enabled - I have saved the report could you let me know where to send it please.
Managed to get the videos working on the server but I need to view them in replay for another project. Previously I used a third party tool but it wrecked my computer - so not doing that again.
Many thanks.
Hi Sarra,
Did you follow the steps here to verify that video hardware acceleration is enabled? If it's enabled and Replay still won't launch, click Save All Information (at the bottom of the window). Save the file, and send it to us for review here.
