Replicate Hover and Click Effects (FILE ATTACHED)

Oct 11, 2012

I am trying to replicate the functionality of the glossary on the following website:

http://whatis.techtarget.com/

On the attached file, I attempted to do this with three states:

1. Normal - What the learner sees when they first navigate to the page

2. Click - What the learners sees when they click on a rectangle

3. MouseOver - The hover state of Normal

My problems:

1. When I mouse over a rectangle, the state changes but when I mouse out, the state doesn't change back to Normal. I tried unchecking "Restore on mouse leave" on my trigger, but when I mouse out, the box no longer shows the text.

2. When I click on a rectangle, the desired effect is created, but when I click on a second rectangle, the Click state of rectangle one remains.  I would like it to function like the example on the website.

3. Mousing over a rectangle in the Click state changes it to a MouseOver state.  Again, I would like it to function like the example on the website.

I'm guessing this will have to be accomplished with variables, but they are my achilles heel...I just can't wrap my brain around their functionality.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Showemimo...this works great.  Feel silly for not thinking of this myself.

Phil - I've messaged Mike to see if he can send me a link to the demo.  Sounds like there may be multiple ways to do this...thanks.

Hello Mike,

I just view the screenr of EndersDesign. He used layers but I used only states in storyline with tigger wizared (change state of object). I love the screenr. thanks

I saw this same dmeo and tried to replicate it. I did fine but here is where I am stuck:

1. I mouse over and the image changes to the Hover graphic = good.

2. When I CLICK, however, the image remains in the Hover graphic, UNTIL I move my house away. At which point the correct "Selected" graphic appears. WHen a new button is selected, the proper "visited" button appears.

I want the "Selected" state graphic to appear as soon as I CLICK.
