Report status to LMS

Sep 21, 2015

Hi!

I need your help. Just want to double check one thing. Resport stauts for LMS (see the picture) is this information (any alternative for this option)  only relative when you have quizz in you course?

Olga, if you do not have a quiz in your course, if you are basing completion on slides viewed, then you should use "Completed/Incomplete".

If your course is scored, using the setting in your screenshot will send a completed/passed status and score if the quiz is successfully completed with a minimum passing score.  If the minimum passing score is not met a status of "incomplete" is sent to the LMS.

An alternative to that setting for scored courses would be "Passed/Failed", which will send a completed/passed status with score if the quiz is successfully completed with a minimum passing score, or a completed/failed status with score if the minimum passing score is not met.

Hi Brian!

Thanks! I am most intrested in what happens if their's no quizz and the report status to LMS is let us say passed/incomplet. I just need to say that I am not intrsted in trecking users on slide level. I just want that LMS register the exact date a user klicked on the SCORM. Do I understand correctly that for this purpose only there is no difference what report status for LMS actualy is? Or am I wrong?
We use Moodle.

Olga, passed/incomplete will not work if your course has no quiz/no score to base a "passing" status on.

If your course has no quiz/no score then it is simply completed or incomplete, there is no other status that it can be.  How can your course know if it is passed, if you do not have a score to base a passing score on?  Without a quiz, the only thing you can base completion on is number or percentage of slides viewed.

I don't know how Moodle will handle a passing status with no score, so I can't shed any light on how that will work in Moodle.

Your LMS *should* automatically record the date that a user begins a SCORM course and the date that it is completed or passed.  Again, I'm not familiar with Moodle so I can't say for sure, but hopefully someone here will clarify for you.

I just want that LMS register the exact date a user klicked on the SCORM.

If this is all you want to track, I would recommend setting your slides viewed to "1", and use the Completed/Incomplete status for reporting back to the LMS.

This should send a completed status to your LMS as soon as the SCORM course is launched.
