Reporting on Storyline Quiz/Assessment Answers

Jul 26, 2017

We have created a number of Storyline quiz/assessments as SCORM packages for our LMS (SumTotal). Has anyone found a way to generate reports on individual question/answer combinations for learners who complete a quiz or assessment? We prefer using Storyline to provide a richer experience for the learner (the SumTotal assessment allows us to report on individual questions/answers, but it lacks the flair of Storyline).

Thank you.

Hello Steve and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

The reporting would be handled by your LMS, not Storyline. The result slide in your course is what would drive that.

Result slides give learners dynamic feedback at the end of quizzes and surveys. They also send reporting and tracking information to learning management systems, including learners' responses and scores.

Hopefully someone more familiar with SumTotal will be able to pop in and assist you here.

Thanks, Leslie. The results slide is helpful for our learners. I was wondering if the individual questions/answers for a quiz are stored somewhere by the published Storyline course or is that data passed as a file or data object to our LMS. Our intent is to review assessments and determine if there are issues with particular questions. Being able to report on the individual questions/answers would be helpful in doing that.

Hi Steve!

The information that is sent from Storyline to your LMS can be found here. Please notice that tip on the bottom in case you wish to send question text to your LMS, publish for SCORM 2004 or Tin Can API. It is up to the LMS in how they report on that data.

I did see another user mention reporting via SumTotal from the LMS side here and thought it might be helpful to you.
