Reporting SL2 Variables to an LMS using triggers&results slides

Nov 26, 2015

hello,

I've been trying to preform the actions explained here regarding Reporting Articulate Storyline Variables to an LMS.

I've constructed an overly-simple 1-slide 'course' that consists of two buttons, one marker, which, when clicked - shows a layer containing another marker, which, when clicked, hides said layer. The first marker and one of the buttons each adjust a variable to value 1 respectively (not sure wether or not that had to be done but it seemed logical). I followed the instructions all the way down to hiding the short answer question slides and the results slide, setting the TCAPI to report using that results slide.

I've uploaded the test to my LMS (Talent LMS) and I can't seem to 'finish' the course. I did have a seperate button triggering an 'exit course', but it's not doing anything. clicking the 'next button' generates a popup alert saying ' you must complete the question before submitting.' and then it shows me one of the short answer questions.

I feel like I'm still miles away from getting this to work on the actual courses we're constructing, and this is a temporary solution until we can fully understand how to use the xAPI's full capabilites. Has anyone successfully attempted this and got it to work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Erez,

You may want to share your sample course here so that folks in the community could take a look at what you've set up. The exit course trigger is notoriously a tricky one as detailed here. You may want to look at testing the course in SCORM Cloud which is an industry standard for testing LMS content to see how it behaves there as well. You can use this article as a step by step guide on how to get this set up.

Hi Erez,

I published your course to the SCORM Cloud and you can access it here. The exit button that you built behaved normally in that clicking on it from slide 1 closed the browser window. I'm not sure what you mean in regards to the variables? Could you look at testing this example and letting me know how it behaves?
