Reporting Storyline True False Variables to LMS

Nov 01, 2017

Hi All! I'm a brand new Storyline user, in Captivate recovery. I've set up a course that I don't want to look like a quiz, but needs to report data to the LMS. I'm using T/F variables, since I just needed to add a check on whether an item had been selected to determine patching and branching in the module.

I've seen the tutorial on pushing text variables through to the LMS using the text question, and since this is a True/False variable, that isn't working so well.

I would love any help you guys can offer, and I am not afraid of a little JavaScript, but I'm not a power user. Thanks so much!

Thanks! I am referring to that documentation. Basically, I need to report that they passed each level, which I'm doing with the t/f variable, so yes, I need to monitor the path.

The worst case scenario, I think, would be for me to change these all to numeric variables. Then I think this would be fairly easy with the numeric data entry survey question. If there's a way to do this with T/F, though, that would be great!

Thanks for that feedback Merritt - that should fill in some of the blanks for someone that will be able to pop in and assist.

Did you add in the Text Entry fields to populate them with the variable and add in the Result Slide as well?

It looks like your email signature came through when you replied via email. You can remove that if needed by clicking ‘Edit’ beneath your response. Here’s a quick Peek video if you need help.

Oops! I'll work on popping that out.

I tried to use the text survey question, but since I have used the true false variable rather than the text one, it doesn't give me the option to superimpose the t/f variable over the text one, from what I can tell. I've texted this with a numeric variable and a numeric survey question, and it works fine. I think that I'm either doing something wrong, or I need to use the numeric variable instead.
