Reporting to LMS

Oct 14, 2020

Hello Everyone,

I have created language exercises using different default templates in Storyline for the purpose of publishing to an LMS, namely Moodle. I have come across the following issue which I would really appreciate some insight on.

The exercises have been created to be given to students as ungraded assignments  for practice with an unlimited number of attempts. I understand that for unscored content the 2 publishing options are Completed/Incomplete or Completed/Failed.

When I published my content to track using Complete/Incomplete , Moodle shows the activity as Completed as soon as the student click to Enter the SCORM, ie. just tracks the number of slides viewed  only which is just one single slide in my case since each exercise is published separately.

What I would like to know is if there is any way I could make the Complete status show upon attempting the exercise and clicking the submit button, i.e to make the complete or incomplete activity status on Moodle contingent on the Submit button inside the storyline slide,to be able to track whether the student  made an attempt at the exercise.

Do I have to publish it using a different track method and add a result slide to be able to achieve that ?

Thank you !

Hi Maggie,

Thanks for reaching out! Have you tried using the Course Completion trigger that comes with Storyline 360? Instead of automatically reporting the course as complete when the learner opens the course, you can set a trigger to complete the course when the user selects Submit.

Be sure to change your tracking options to complete course trigger instead of tracking by slides viewed when you publish. Let me know if this works for you!
